
Biography
Carmen is a Ph.D. student in Sociology at the University of Washington, Seattle. Her current research interests explore how people engage with health-based technologies when their data flows to the state. She is also interested in co-constructed research with community and public partners, and has previously collaborated with partners including the King County Assessment, Policy Development and Evaluation Unit.
Prior to joining the program at UW, Carmen worked in public policy on the intersection of Southeast Asian gig economy, tech and labor. She was also involved in non-profit projects to expand access to education and mentoring opportunities for youths in Singapore and South Korea. She holds a B.A. in International Studies with a Northeast Asian political focus from Yonsei University (2019).
