Biography

Sadie Carlson earned her Bachelors of Architecture (BARCH) from the California Polytechnic State university in San Luis Obispo, where she specialized in sustainable design and urban Planning. During this time she spent a year as an exchange student with the Pontificia Universidad Catolica in Santiago Chile where she studied and conducted field research in social housing.
 
In her professional career, Sadie has worked in sustainability consulting and as a Building scientist and sustainable materials specialist, and has won/managing multiple federal grants focused on carbon-neutral prefabricated housing using mass timber. 
 
Her research interests housing policy and administration, segregation, neighborhood change, subsidized housing, mobility, migration, economics, social psychology, and geospatial analysis. Sadie is passionate about using housing as a tool to promote equitable access, social connectivity, mutual aid, and in reducing issues like segregation and migration conflics. 
 
In her freetime Sadie loves painting, experimental music, and gazing lovingly at her aquarium.
