The Department of Sociology is pleased to announce that graduate students Edward Hock and Lindsay Maurer have been chosen as two of six 2026-2027 Joff Hanauer Award for Excellence in Western Civilization Graduate Fellows.
The fellowship fosters creative and critical work in the Western cultural tradition and helps to prepare emerging scholars and educators from different disciplines to think deeply about the role of Western civilization in the liberal arts.
As a Hanauer fellow, Eddie and Lindsay will participate in a bi-monthly seminar led by Professor Marek Wieczorek, the Joff Hanauer Distinguished Professor for Western Civilizations and will engage in collaborative work with graduate students from across the humanities and humanistic social sciences. They will also receive a financial supplement of $5,000.
Congratulations, Eddie and Lindsay!
