Lindsay Maurer holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of California, Davis. She comes to UW with several years of experience working in the field of education research and evaluation.
Her research interests include political sociology, historical sociology, global and transnational sociology, computational methods and community-engaged research. She uses computational text analysis to examine constitutional language in 19th century discourse.
Outside of academics, Lindsay enjoys rock climbing and knitting.
Sadie Carlson earned her Bachelors of Architecture from the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, where she specialized in sustainable design and urban Planning. She also spent time as an exchange student with the Pontificia Universidad Catolica in Santiago Chile where she studied and conducted field research in social housing.
In her professional career, Sadie has worked in sustainability consulting and as a building scientist and sustainable materials specialist, and has earned and managed multiple federal grants focused on carbon-neutral prefabricated housing using mass timber.
Her research interests include housing policy and administration, segregation, neighborhood change, subsidized housing, mobility, migration, economics, social psychology, and geospatial analysis. Sadie is passionate about using housing as a tool to promote equitable access, social connectivity, mutual aid, and in reducing issues like segregation and migration conflicts.
In her free time Sadie loves painting, experimental music, and gazing lovingly at her aquarium.
Yicong Guo recently completed her MPhil in Criminological Research at the University of Cambridge. Before that, she earned both her undergraduate and master’s degrees in law in mainland China and worked as a legal counsel for a listed company for two years.
Her research interests center on health disparities, family sociology, and mixed methods. She is particularly passionate about understanding how parenting shapes children’s early development and about exploring the social determinants of child health outcomes. She has also worked as a research assistant on several parenting intervention projects aimed at promoting family well-being.
Outside of academia, Yicong enjoys skiing, volleyball, rowing, climbing, and performing a cappella and Chinese opera.
