Xitlaly Mendoza Husky 100 recipient 2025

The Husky 100 recognizes 100 UW undergraduate and graduate students who are making the most of their time at the UW.

Xitlaly Mendoza hails from Mesa, Washington and is an undergraduate student with a double major in Sociology and Law, Societies, and Justice. As a first-generation student from Eastern Washington and the daughter of Oaxacan-Mixtec Indigenous migrant parents, Xitlaly recognizes the challenges and importance of navigating higher education. Being accepted to the University of Washington as a Presidential Scholar strengthened her determination to honor her family’s sacrifices and heritage by deepening her knowledge, serving her community and actively engaging in service inside and outside the community. Through her involvement with the College Assistance Migrant Program, Dare to Dream Academy and Multicultural Outreach & Recruitment, she has worked to empower underrepresented communities and create pathways for others.

Xitlaly aims to leave a legacy of change that impacts her community, creates opportunities and uplifts those who are often marginalized, inspiring a more inclusive society where everyone can achieve their full potential and be successful. We celebrate Xitlaly and all the achievements and contributions she is making to our department, the University of Washington and her community!
