Meet new grad student Mingze Li

Mingze Li holds a B.A. in Economics with a minor in International Relations and Public Policy Analysis from Boston University and an M.S. in Social Policy from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the Department of Sociology, Mingze served as a Quantitative Research Assistant at the UPenn Center for Guaranteed Income Research, where he focused on evaluating guaranteed income pilot programs.

Mingze’s research sits at the intersection of demography, immigration, and policy. His work examines the impact of citizenship on later-life outcomes using a fixed-effects approach and the demographics data of immigrants. At UW, he aims to further develop computational methods to advance social science research and foster equity and justice.

In his free time, Mingze enjoys outdoor activities, including hiking and fishing in Puget Sound.
