Karthik is entering the program at UW after completing his B.A. in Psychology at the University of Rochester and his M.S. in Sociology at Brown University. He chose UW because he appreciates the quantitative focus the department here provides, while also encouraging and fostering opportunities for interdisciplinary research.
While here, Karthik is interested in studying the intersections of art, music, and culture and how they influence perceptions of identity within and across different racial groups and how these perceptions influence migration patterns in the United States and globally. He aims to take a mixed methods approach to research with a focus on computational modeling, network analysis, interviews, and oral histories.
Outside of academics, Karthik enjoys playing tennis and table top games, and learning about myths and legends from throughout the world.
